Just saw the credits (didn't 100% complete, but still plan to play more). Reposting my original review from, because it seems to have been deleted: It's not something I normally mind since it's a clever use of the spinjump mechanic, but I feel it's design that's better suited mostly for the secret levels. I also felt the hack's later half (Fall and Winter) starts to rely a bit too much on having to traverse the terrain by (spin)jumping on moving obstacles to get past Black Munchers/Castle Spikes. If the player hits the checkpoint, dies, and then jumps back behind the hill that's right behind the checkpoint, it appears to be impossible to get back without taking a hit or wasting a life? I went back there on my playthrough thinking the block behind me had a powerup, but I realized I couldn't reach it and had to die. One is a minor 'softlock' in 1-4 (Perilous Plant Place). Level design was also pretty great with a lot of the secrets behind some fairly interesting puzzles. It's definitely a step up from vanilla Mario World in terms of quality and difficulty, but appreciated all the same. Fairly challenging, with well communicated attack patterns that never feel too unfair and all feel unique. The custom bosses are also the best I've seen in any Mario World hack. It's extremely cozy and invokes a sense of nostalgia for me, which deserves a huge kudos. Seriously great detail, and I LOVED 'Breakbeat Darkness' (alongside the Winter level that used it). The custom graphics and music are exceptionally well done and easily one of the biggest draws to this hack knowing all of them were created specifically for this hack. It took a second for it to click for me, but noticing the water level appeared in the same consistent spot finally made me say 'ah'. There's a lot of clever little touches too to immerse you in the season you're currently in, and even some nice illusions to make it feel as if you're revisiting an area in a completely different season. The 'Each World represents a Season' gimmick is really well done and gives the hack it's own distinct feel from others. : fixed a star coin not spawning, as well as some minor visual oversightsĪsm bosses chocolate exgfx gimmick hdma music no story original graphics original soundtrack sa-1 scenery traditionalįinished up the hack last night and had a pretty great time with it!.: made star coins save individually as you collect them ( you no longer have to get them all in a single run! thanks to lx5) and fixed some minor gameplay issues.: made it easier to enter destroyed castles, added a warning about old emulators incorrectly displaying color gradients, as well as some other minor fixes and tweaks.: some difficulty balancing and minor bugfixes.: added a new song by Torchkas, made some more pipes two-way, and fixed a rare bug.: fixed a bug introduced in the last version as well as some more minor things.rewards and easter eggs for completionists. an original soundtrack by some of SMWC's finest musicians.a focus on interesting, season-themed scenery and fun levels.almost entirely custom graphics, all of them hand-made.(And some more!)
